Update

Reading the three core rulebooks, helping players create characters, writing and editing Google docs with copious notes on worldbuilding, launching a custom web site, researching various online resources,—building a game is an involved (and very enjoyable) process, even if the system is as well-established and familiar as Dungeons & Dragons.

I’ll try to provide these updates/progress reports weekly, in case anyone is curious about these things.

Dahrqbrü Web Site Development

While this new web site is currently just a crude sketch, my intent is to add little pieces of content to this outline regularly, and to refine content as time permits. This site is not supposed to be a complete codex of the world I am (we are) building; it is supposed to be a player-centric “living document”—a resource which will grow and change over time.

There Be Dragons Here!
Please excuse the mess! As opposed to trying to get everything presentable before sharing this site, I’m opting to share this site with players in all of its awful, unrefined glory. It’s a moving target, and you are invited to share your ides on what can make this site more fun for all of us.

Character Creation

Over the last week two weeks, I’ve reached out to you core players so we can all help to get the ball rolling towards our new campaign of adventures. As I continue to hash out all of my fun DM stuff, I am hoping that you players are thinking deeply about your characters and becoming as familiar as you can with their respective classes and races, as detailed in the Player’s Handbook. IMHO, your choice of Alignment, Background, and Personal Characteristics (p.122 – 141), are your first real steps in exploring what distinguishes D&D as “the world’s greatest role-playing game.”

I love what I’ve seen so far! The creative thought and attention given to your heroes helps me outline story elements and enriches the world of Dahrqbrü. I’m really looking forward to learning more about your characters and their adventures.

I’m hoping to catch up with you all soon so we can continue the process.

Online Utilities

I just want to comment once again just how well my recent Google Hangout session with Tony went. All players are welcome to iMessage me questions or other messages, but I think Google Hangouts will be the best method for more involved exchanges when we’re not able to meet in person.

The Quest To Find A Place To Play

Tony stopped by the game store in Shoreline this last week, asking about whatever space they have available to play. From what I understand of that conversation, they are presently thinking about making that space available as a source of revenue.

Currently, I have no interest in renting any space to play. Whatever discretionary funds I’m directing towards this hobby will be going towards my gas tank so I can visit you all, towards the acquisition of D&D publications and gear, and into the obligatory munchie fund.

I will also admit that I am presently in no particular hurry to find a space to play. I have a silly amount of reading, research, and worldbuilding to do before we can actually sit down and play our first game.

That’s all I can really think of to share right now. Feel free to contact me if you questions, comments, or concerns.
